FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE! Decorate UM Style

FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE! Decorate UM Style
We all know how exciting football season can be! Here in Miami, The University of Miami rules the school, so why not decorate your home with an inspiration from you favorite football team? Here are some tips to make sure our Green and Orange blend perfectly all throughout the year.
1. Pick the right shades of orange and green to create the mood you want in your room. Palm-leaf green and tiger-lily orange feel hot and island-like; cool peach and black-green feel chic and formal. Collect color samples from a paint store and bring them home to compare tones in the room you are decorating. Look at options under both natural and artificial lighting. Take your final selections with you when you shop for wallpaper, furniture, window treatments and accessories.

2. Select wall, ceiling and floor colors. Paint several rooms green and several orange for a whole-house approach, unifying the look with consistent baseboard and crown molding. Use white molding for a clean, modern look; use natural wood for an arts and crafts bungalow. Find green wallpaper with a bold print containing orange flowers or a botanical print featuring exotic orange birds, or even our “U” logo. Paint the ceiling a dark shade of orange in a room with white walls. Or go instead with a surprising green floor.
3. Shop for upholstery and window treatment textiles that contain appealing combinations of orange and green. Hang olive-and-tangerine-striped curtains in a hip living room; make a cute duvet cover for a child's bedroom with hot orange polka dots on a chartreuse background. Use bold patterns for covering small items like footstools and throw pillows if you fear they will overwhelm the room in large quantities.

4. Choose spot-on orange and green accessories. Orange tulips on green stems soothe and cheer in a glass vase on a bedside table; oranges and limes are an inexpensive, homey centerpiece on a dining room table. Place a kumquat tree near a southern window in a living room. Mix orange plates with mint green retro coffee cups on open shelving in the kitchen. Hang green bath sheets and orange hand towels in the guest bathroom for a funky, 1970s feeling; enhance the mood with an orange and green film poster and a green shag bathmat.
